We have sailed some rough seas to get this far south. The crossing from Miami was lumpy. The first three hours coming down from Chub Cay to Nassau today, winds were in the 25-29 knot winds, wind and 8 foot waves 45 degrees of the port bow. We took quite a pounding. The Waco cooler was airborne at one point, spilling its contents into the cockpit step well. A shot day for me, I was air borne once or twice while I tried to sleep, the master berth doing a fine imitation of a trampoline. When the winds finally dropped to the 18-knot range, Steve turned on the engines to keep control of the helm and our speed reasonable. Steve has become a remarkable sailor.
It is nice to be dockside. 🙂 The boat is a salty mess and needs a thorough washing. Laundry is already in the machines. Tonight we will have dinner at The Poop Deck, a great spot frequented several times last season.
