We motored to Staniel Cay for fuel before dropping the hook between Big and Little Major’s Spot.

Seas have subsided and the winds have died.  It is the proverbial calm before the storm.

We are on anchor between Little Majors and Big Majors Spot.   Hunkered down, we will wait out the big blow forecast for the weekend.  Sustained winds predicted to be 30 knots from the NE with gusts to 40.  We have wrapped the Genoa and screecher sails to keep them from catching any wind.  I think we are prepared.

We dinghied into Staniel Cay for an afternoon walk.  Lounging below the docks were a dozen nurse sharks.  The water so clear, I could actually take photos.  In the Staniel Cay Yacht Club Bar meet up with two guys who docked next to us in Nassau last March, Phil and John from S/V Take Two.  Last March it was Phil and his wife Judy, and John and his wife (?).  Only Phil, John and another person were aboard this time, making their way to Georgetown where Phil will leave the boat when he returns home for Christmas and New Years.

We are currently about 50 miles from Georgetown, if we took a straight shot through the Exuma Sound.  We will probably stay inside, on the banks, and move down to Black Settlement, where we will drop off a case of canned goods to a charity.  It is about 10 miles away.  Maybe next to Farmer’s Cay and then outside into the Exuma Sound for the entrance through Conch Cut into Georgetown.   We should make Georgetown in 5-7 days.  Our daughter Katie and her boyfriend Ryan will arrive on December 26, 18 days and counting!
