After deciding to leave for Antigua through the Narrows, we weighed anchor to stage from Oualie’s Beach on the north coast.  Discovering too many fishing floats would compromise a safe early morning departure, we returned to an anchorage off the ruins of Fort Charles.

Just as we did on St.Kitts, we also took a road trip on Nevis. Nevis has gone the other Leeward Islands one better by developing the Heritage Trail, a driving route around the island with historically important sites well marked by a blue placard.   Each placard details pertinent data regarding the site.  No need to hire a guide.  After driving tours on two islands, both heavily involved in the sugar cane industry, we are feeling a bit touristed out.  We are starting to believe if you have seen one sugar plantation ruin – you have seen them all.  They are often very similar.   Thankfully, however, some have unique features and are really worth a visit.  Each has a different ambiance; each has something different to offer.

We are still having the time of our lives and enjoying every minute of it.
